These are the rules we play the game by, based on the original Dungeons and Dragons Basic (red box) and Expert (blue box) rule sets.
They're the simplest and easiest to learn, and who doesn't like a bit of retro gaming?

The Basics
 
The Character Sheet What do all those numbers and things mean?
The Character Classes What, exactly, is a cleric, a fighter, a magic user or a thief?
Character Creation How, exactly, do you create a new character?

Before Playing
 
Players aren't Characters What's the difference between you as a player and your character?
A History of the World The history and backstory of the world. Not vital information but it sets the scene!
What's your Alignment? What does your character believe in?
The all-important Session Zero This lays basic gameplay rules; please read these rules, ignorance will not be accepted as a valid excuse!
The Equipment List How much is armour and weapons? How heavy is a wooden pole?
