"ah ha. well then, novaya notices an odd shape in the sky, but when Robin walks into the branches of a seemingly normal tree, a loud screeching sound erupts from it's trunk, startling the leaf-colored birds hiding in the branches, who then begin singing alarm calls and flapping their wings, the mirrored underside of which catches the morning sunlight and reflects it into yours and Novaya's eyes as best as they can.

[2025/09/15 14:38] Sapphire: This means the both of you are looking the wrong way when a heavy, scaled form lands on the ground behind you, a long serpent with wings of it's own, and metal plating strapped protectively around it's neck and chest. You recognize this beasts, the same the invaders used and that you yourself convinced to fly you to the ground. this one has additional yellow markings along the wing tips.
[2025/09/15 14:38] Sapphire: "So, you're the abhumans they told us about," the human in the front saddle of the mount says, clad in green metal plate armor, with a conical wide brimmed hat and a large sword on their back. their compatriate on the rear seat looks more curvy, scowling, and with a hand on the hilt of their snipewand.

[2025/09/15 14:43] Sapphire: "Lies spill from their mouths so easily," the lead human comments to their partner, before facing back to Novaya, "As if blood-skinned abhumans falling from the sky on stolen wyverns were a common, unnotable occurance. Do you have any sensible defenses of yourself to make before we protect the local land from your predations?"

[2025/09/15 14:45] Sapphire: He makes a circular gesture with his gloved hand. His face presents an impatient frown below the brim of their hat.
[2025/09/15 14:46] Mecha: Um Not sure about sensible defenses but I have a question.. What are you saying? Jeeze it sounds like you're saying big words to try to sound smart
[2025/09/15 14:47] Sonja Bikergrrl: Novaya: "So, let me get this straight. You jump us, tell us we lie, then ask why we're here. Rather than tell you and have you blow it off as a lie, why don't you go to that church in town and ask them about the spire in the lake they wanted to know about? Because we found out what they want to know."
[2025/09/15 15:00] Sapphire: "It's probably a trick, my lord," the rear one says while studying your movements closely. "They may have ensnared the villagers with mental powers. It is not unknown of their kind, if rather rare." He looks Novaya and Robin over. "Though, we do wish to keep the village safe as well. Perhaps their officials simply underestimate the danger at play..."

[2025/09/15 15:01] Sonja Bikergrrl: Novaya, to Robin (loudly): "Beware, these seem to be the heretics we were warned of! We were told lies will spill from their mouths, and they are probably ensnared by evil forces! We must be careful against the heresy we were warned of!"
[2025/09/15 15:03] Mecha: Robin responds to Novaya. Indeed, they also seem rather Speciesist... referring to us as our kind
[2025/09/15 15:04] Sonja Bikergrrl: Novaya to Robin: "As the church elder said - our faith in their cause will shield us!"

You wish for the sanctity of the Church of Truth and to be surrounded by proper humans. We'll go see what Mother Argon has to say about this. We can walk in peace for the minutes it will take to get there. At least in as much peace as we can manage if more alarm trees are disturbed," he adds with a soft laugh.

[2025/09/15 15:24] Sapphire: The wyvern watches all this, with an occasional flick of their tongue, but declines to add to the conversation. there's a moment of quiet stillness while the knight and squire wait for you to move in front of them where they can see you.

[2025/09/15 15:30] Sapphire: the trip to town manages to avoid running into any additional trees, dodging one particularly shady looking one, and coming to the towns main entrance, where a couple more of the knight-looking types are just inside, sharing some roast beasts with their wyverns. the town guard are there as well, walking up quickly to the incoming entourage. "Is everything alright?" "A simple question of fact to be addressed with Mother Argon, nothing to be concerned with," the knight says. the guardsman raises an eyebrow and then looks between novaya and robin.

[2025/09/15 15:33] Sapphire: the three guards in their imperfectly matched armor pause and look alarmed. "Where? what happened?" while the knight behind you blinks and asks "Excuse me?"

[2025/09/15 15:37] Sapphire: the town guards move to jog with the pair of you two, still trying to figure out exactly what is going on but sensing they should be on the scene, while the Knight suddenly realizes "The stolen wyverns!" before their mount flaps their wings and launches upwards in the air.

[2025/09/15 15:45] Sapphire: as fast as you are, you are still limited to your ruby entity legs, making very good time none the less. as you're all running, the first ones to the dome shaped barn are the flying wyvern, dropping down to rip the doors open, with Robin a short 30 feet away when that happens, while novaya and the guards are perhaps a medium 70 foot distance back at the time
