[2026/09/08 14:11] Sapphire: *typas*
[2026/09/08 14:14] Sonja Bikergrrl: /me opens NC, tries to decypher
[2026/09/08 14:16] Sapphire: Previously in Seneca's Side : http://81.133.27.194/Dungeons&Kittens/logs-2025arm/20260804.html
[2026/09/08 14:16] Sapphire: --- -0- ----
[2026/09/08 14:16] Sapphire: It's the Day before the full moon, so the Wizards War starts *tonight* officially. Unofficially if something were to happen it'd take some very pedantic arguing and political pulling of strings to actually win a legal battle about it, and that assumes you're alive enough to bring charges.
[2026/09/08 14:17] Sapphire: The Seneshal was able to collect about half as many pigs from nearby villages as you were hoping for, and so your next most promising option is the village in the foothills of the mountains. It's called Saint Bartholomews, to whom the monks there have dedicated their chapel, so the lands are nominally church-owned. The church is the most impressive and central structure, plus a few secondary stoneworks.
[2026/09/08 14:17] Sapphire: It looks like they would have pigs if you can talk them into selling, and can get there and back without Cato's forces harassing you too much.
[2026/09/08 14:18] Sapphire: So. Sarah and the Captain and the Seneshal heading out while Seneca reinforces wards?
[2026/09/08 14:18] Sonja Bikergrrl: Oui.
[2026/09/08 14:18] Mecha: Yep
[2026/09/08 14:20] Sapphire: Captain, how many men are you chosing to bring on this venture?
[2026/09/08 14:20] Sonja Bikergrrl: How many -can- I bring?
[2026/09/08 14:22] Sapphire: While in theory you could bring a dozen, that would leave your mage basically alone while he's performing a carefully timed ritual
[2026/09/08 14:22] Sonja Bikergrrl: two, then.
[2026/09/08 14:24] Sapphire: so a party of five venturing down to Saint Barts. Are you favoring stealth or rapidity in your travels?
[2026/09/08 14:24] Sonja Bikergrrl: Stealth, I'd suggest, we're few in number
[2026/09/08 14:26] Mecha: Both if possible but yeah stealth should be the focus
[2026/09/08 14:26] Sapphire: whichever of you is better at sneaking, roll Perception + Stealth as a stress die against the opposed roll of the watchers
[2026/09/08 14:26] Sonja Bikergrrl: that'll be Mecha I think
[2026/09/08 14:27] Mecha: yep the half giant woman has the stealth. ... Um no, no she doesn't and a -1 in perception
[2026/09/08 14:27] D10: Sonja Bikergrrl rolls 2
[2026/09/08 14:27] Sonja Bikergrrl: 2.
[2026/09/08 14:28] Sapphire: *inspects this roll*
[2026/09/08 14:28] Sonja Bikergrrl: ....5?
[2026/09/08 14:28] Sonja Bikergrrl: Stealth 3 (when armored)
[2026/09/08 14:28] Sapphire: that's a fun stealth specialty
[2026/09/08 14:30] D10: Sapphire rolls 4
[2026/09/08 14:30] Sapphire: what's your perception/
[2026/09/08 14:30] Sonja Bikergrrl: 0.
[2026/09/08 14:32] Sapphire: You make it to Saint Barts without being accosted. Tree cover is thin and scrabbly, though large boulders are plentiful in this part of the mountains, and your party ventures in between sections of cover on the way down, arriving at the villages edge.
[2026/09/08 14:34] Sapphire: "So, I'll see how much silver they want for a small herd of pigs, on the hoof if we can," your Seneshal says, eyeing the village with an appraising gaze. "If there's goods you're also looking for, are you giving me a list or tracking them down yourselves?"
[2026/09/08 14:34] Sonja Bikergrrl: What do we know of this Cato?
[2026/09/08 14:35] Mecha: Track them individually... as soon as I remember what Sarah might need.
[2026/09/08 14:37] Sapphire: of Cato? That he is an Archmage of four elements, considers Seneca weak and provincial in a way that they've been harassing each other for years now, and that he has a fairly high supply of Vis to make magic items with, -presumably- from his backers in Transylvania.
[2026/09/08 14:38] Sonja Bikergrrl: he must be very old
[2026/09/08 14:38] Sapphire: wizards often are, they have Longevity Potions
[2026/09/08 14:38] Sapphire: You may also make an Organization Lore : Order of Hermes roll if you have that skill
[2026/09/08 14:39] Sonja Bikergrrl: must be very slow in combat
[2026/09/08 14:39] Sapphire: this could be true
[2026/09/08 14:40] Sonja Bikergrrl: as a general rule it surely must be
[2026/09/08 14:43] Sapphire: In either case, you're at a village populated by a mixture of peasants, pig herders, and monks. What shall you seek?
[2026/09/08 14:43] Sonja Bikergrrl: so, is that or is that not the case? Surely we'd have some inkling
[2026/09/08 14:46] Sapphire: Well, while being old certainly can slow you down, many mages don't need all that much motion to get a spell they're practiced at to cast quickly. Seneca himself can turn a field of stone into a field of mud with basically a loud word. Very much complicates the life of cavalry, tht one.
[2026/09/08 14:47] Sonja Bikergrrl: But he'd need that spell prepared, surely? He can't just walk around and say "stone!" and the field is mud.
[2026/09/08 14:48] Sapphire: Perhaps you might inquire of that with Sarah
[2026/09/08 14:48] Sonja Bikergrrl: I'm asking you, as the DM, what is the knowledge my character has of wizards
[2026/09/08 14:51] Sapphire: you do -work- for one, and you've seen him use that particular spell on a couple occasions. He's often secretive in the mornings and evenings, holed up in his lab and quarters.
[2026/09/08 14:51] Sonja Bikergrrl: okay.... so, can he spam it willy nilly? Is there some preparation required?
[2026/09/08 14:52] Sapphire: big spells make mages tired, and the "ward" he's casting now will apparently take him most of the evening to arrange
[2026/09/08 14:53] Sonja Bikergrrl: so, for Cato to turn a field to mud, he needs an afternoon to prepare
[2026/09/08 14:53] Sonja Bikergrrl: he can't just say "mud" and the field is mud, just like that
[2026/09/08 14:53] Sapphire: well, you've seen -seneca- do the field to mud in a word
[2026/09/08 14:54] Sapphire: Cato... maybe can? earth is an element apparently
[2026/09/08 14:54] Sonja Bikergrrl: then what is he doing all afternoon?
[2026/09/08 14:56] Sapphire: Sarah would know the details better, but a a defensive spell intended to protect the base for an entire month, interlaced with the -existing- year long version.
[2026/09/08 14:56] Sonja Bikergrrl: you're the DM, I'm asking a game mechanic rule.
[2026/09/08 14:56] Sapphire: ( Sarah would know it's specifically an anti-fire ward but that hasn't been spread around )
[2026/09/08 14:57] Mecha: /me chews a carrot muttering about love languages.
[2026/09/08 14:57] Sonja Bikergrrl: I'm also asking for what I can reasonably know, given I've worked with one for years
[2026/09/08 14:57] Sapphire: more specifically, Seneca is *timing* the casting of that spell to start *during* the moon reaching full so it lasts as long as possible.
[2026/09/08 14:57] Sonja Bikergrrl: Let me be clear
[2026/09/08 14:57] Sonja Bikergrrl: if you said to me, "what do I need to do to cast stone to mud", I'd tell you very clearly
[2026/09/08 14:58] Sapphire: ah, i'm being coy partly since you're playing a mundane military expert rather than a mage, at the moment
[2026/09/08 14:58] Sonja Bikergrrl: you need to be in range (a few hundred yards), you need line of sight, you need the correct material component and you'd need to be able to gesture
[2026/09/08 14:58] Sonja Bikergrrl: now
[2026/09/08 14:58] Sonja Bikergrrl: you've told me wizards are old
[2026/09/08 14:58] Sapphire: the game rules would note that it's Voice Range, Momentary Duration, target Part and increased Size, to perform a Muto Terram effect targeting stone
[2026/09/08 14:59] Sonja Bikergrrl: you've also told me "age slows you down"
[2026/09/08 14:59] Sapphire: ( though Sight range would be good too )
[2026/09/08 14:59] Sonja Bikergrrl: you've also told me this Cato is very old
[2026/09/08 14:59] Sonja Bikergrrl: so, I'm asking for a basic working definition
[2026/09/08 14:59] Sapphire: oh, game mechanic wise?
[2026/09/08 15:00] Sonja Bikergrrl: If I'm a warrior and I attack a wizard, how close do I need to be?
[2026/09/08 15:00] Sonja Bikergrrl: Do I get to run down a street? a room? Do I need to stand right next to the guy?
[2026/09/08 15:00] Sonja Bikergrrl: If I take him by surprise, can i interrupt him?
[2026/09/08 15:01] Sonja Bikergrrl: What are the known rules that i need to know to play my character correctly?
[2026/09/08 15:01] Sapphire: do you want the "how does Age lower your characteristics" explainer now or the "how do you get up close and personal to a wizard who doesn't want you to do that" explainer first?
[2026/09/08 15:01] Sonja Bikergrrl: Both.
[2026/09/08 15:04] Sapphire: the short answer to the aging one is that every winter above age 35, you make a stress roll adding your living conditions and a few other things like how good a Longevity Ritual you have, and if you do poorly on that you pick a stat to take aging damage on, those points add up and eventually push said stat lower and eventually go into negatives. If you crit fail you get a health crisis that may or may not kill you. Heart conditions, uclers, broken hip from fall, those kinda stuff.
[2026/09/08 15:04] Sapphire: living more healthily means you fail fewer of those rolls, a highly spec'd wizard can push their bonus crazy high, and live to like 200
[2026/09/08 15:04] Sonja Bikergrrl: And Cato has one or two?
[2026/09/08 15:04] Sonja Bikergrrl: that's five or six, then.
[2026/09/08 15:05] Sapphire: I'd have to go look up the exact rules and do math to confirm but you're in the right ballpark
[2026/09/08 15:05] Sonja Bikergrrl: well, 200/70 is roughly 3.... 70 is 2x35, so, five or six as a penalty seems about right
[2026/09/08 15:06] Sapphire: collectively perhaps
[2026/09/08 15:07] Sonja Bikergrrl: okay.... so... older wizards can be expected to be slower?
[2026/09/08 15:07] Sapphire: or frailer, or sometimes more addled, or otherwise less put together. They still get old in the way other folks do, just slower
[2026/09/08 15:08] Sonja Bikergrrl: okay... so... I see a wizard, about to cast a spell, I got a sword in my hand, how far before I can't hit him to stop his spell?
[2026/09/08 15:08] Sonja Bikergrrl: Because we're about to walk into what might be a village full of wizards
[2026/09/08 15:10] Sapphire: its quite unlikely even one wizard actally lives in this village. Though if one of the others foresaw you coming they might be hiding out, sure
[2026/09/08 15:10] Sapphire: the likely threat profile is closer to "a merc captain with a dangerous wand" than a proper wizard, but let's assume they sent a wizard
[2026/09/08 15:10] Sonja Bikergrrl: ok... and, my sword to his head? How close to ensure it's near certain first hit?
[2026/09/08 15:12] Sapphire: this is much less about *distance* and more about *surprise* in practice, if the mage can see you making the attack, and is ready for it, they just have tons of options to stop you. In which case, what you want to do is *keep them busy* while your buddy gets behind them, or perhaps Sarah keeps them busy while you get in behind them
[2026/09/08 15:13] Sonja Bikergrrl: so if the wizard is *surprised*, then, my dagger or sword stops his spell
[2026/09/08 15:13] Sapphire: very few wizards can reliably complete a spell if they get stabbed first, yes
[2026/09/08 15:13] Sonja Bikergrrl: okay... I guess that makes sense
[2026/09/08 15:13] Sapphire: in particular wound penalties apply to casting
[2026/09/08 15:14] Sonja Bikergrrl: well, I don't cast...
[2026/09/08 15:15] Sapphire: in terms of inititive, casting a spell happens in the normal turn order, and fast-casting to jump to the head of the line is like, a -20 to the casting check but you might have noticed that Syra's sheet has like +48 on her best spells
[2026/09/08 15:15] Sonja Bikergrrl: that's for next time, I'm not Syra here
[2026/09/08 15:16] Sapphire: sure, but "how to successfully stab the Pyromancer who's sheet you can read" is an excellent example
[2026/09/08 15:17] Sonja Bikergrrl: so, the +41 ... eh, next time.
[2026/09/08 15:17] Sapphire: basically if syra accepts -20 on her casting, she can get two pilums of fire off in a turn
[2026/09/08 15:18] Sonja Bikergrrl: interesting...
[2026/09/08 15:18] Sapphire: the other way you take out a wizard, is by hitting them with a type of attack they did not prepare a defense against
[2026/09/08 15:18] Sonja Bikergrrl: like, a dagger to the neck
[2026/09/08 15:18] Sapphire: for example an earth mage can ward themself against metal, so that the dagger hits the ward and bounces off
[2026/09/08 15:18] Sapphire: while a wooden club would not get bounced
[2026/09/08 15:18] Sapphire: unless they also warded against Herbam
[2026/09/08 15:19] Sonja Bikergrrl: assuming they aren't surprised
[2026/09/08 15:19] Sapphire: correct. Or if they're busy and trying to block *multiple* things
[2026/09/08 15:20] Sapphire: "Things you can do to an enemy wizard who thought he was prepared but isn't" is a populate evening debate topic at Castra Solis, actually
[2026/09/08 15:20] Sapphire: brb, need to get back to laptop charger
[2026/09/08 15:21] Sonja Bikergrrl: right... wizard unprepared for event X, and event X happens... it's a bad day to wizard
[2026/09/08 15:22] Sapphire: now then, after that... hourish digression into the mechanics of wizardly slaying
[2026/09/08 15:22] Sapphire: who seeking to talk to and/or what you seeking to acquire?
[2026/09/08 15:23] Mecha: did you get your charger?
[2026/09/08 15:23] Sapphire: yes, it was just upstairs
[2026/09/08 15:23] Sonja Bikergrrl: Should I not walk down the village street first? Just in case there's enemies/wizards waiting
[2026/09/08 15:24] Sapphire: also quite reasonable.
[2026/09/08 15:25] Mecha: This is the town Sarah grew up in before she apprenticed, right?
[2026/09/08 15:25] Sonja Bikergrrl: Olivar: "Sarah, shall I scout the village first?"
[2026/09/08 15:26] Sonja Bikergrrl: (Do I know these people?)
[2026/09/08 15:26] Sapphire: Sarah probably visited this town for market days but grew up in a smaller one
[2026/09/08 15:27] Sapphire: Olivar, you've been here a few times per year, it's one of the better churches in walking distance even though they have monks instead of a bishop
[2026/09/08 15:27] Sonja Bikergrrl: Olivar: "Sarah? By your leave?"
[2026/09/08 15:27] Mecha: Sarah nods."Might be for the best, but no need to go too deep I spent some of my youth here shopping in the markets."
[2026/09/08 15:28] Sonja Bikergrrl: Olivar nods and starts to approach, aiming to walk along the very centre of the main road.
[2026/09/08 15:30] Mecha: Sarah follows a bit behind watching not only for Olivar but any shopkeeps she might recognize.
[2026/09/08 15:30] Sonja Bikergrrl: Isn't the idea here Sarah stays back out of danger?
[2026/09/08 15:32] Sapphire: As you walk through, Olivar gets friendly waves and hellos from people who've met him. One of the resident monks in a brown robe and shaved head comes up. "A pleasure to meet you again, Olivar. Are you still working for that..." they make an open handed gesture of not saying an offensive word but lacking a polite one that comes to mind, before their eyes look over his shoulder at Sarah. "Ah, I'm guessing the answer is yes?"
[2026/09/08 15:32] Mecha: She is staying back but keeping you in sight. If something happens and you don't report back she isn't going to stay stock still
[2026/09/08 15:32] Mecha: does Sarah hear the monk?
[2026/09/08 15:32] Sonja Bikergrrl: Olivar: "Merde alors. Wizards have no idea of war. Oui, mon ami. Tell me, have you seen anyone lately... who should not be here?"
[2026/09/08 15:33] Sapphire: Probably every other word clearly, Sarah
[2026/09/08 15:33] Mecha: Sarah just turns and walks to a corner and waits.
[2026/09/08 15:34] Sapphire: The monk looks over his shoulder again, pondering if this is meant to be a trick question, "There -have- been more than the usual number of levy soldiers traveling around. Though, what with so many searching for Cathars in hiding I suppose that's hardly a surprise. Very troublesome times these days."
[2026/09/08 15:35] Sonja Bikergrrl: Olivar: "Do these soldiers have Catos' colours?"
[2026/09/08 15:36] Sapphire: A quick back and forth of inquiring which colors are "catos'" before confirming that they do indeed match the description of the mercenary force he is known to have hired.
[2026/09/08 15:37] Sonja Bikergrrl: Olivar: "here, in the village?"
[2026/09/08 15:39] Sapphire: "They camped overnight in a clearing that way," he gestures, "Traded for a cask of ale and three casks of pickled turnips, the ones from two years ago that needed to be used anyhow. I was mostly glad to see a small army like that being polite about such things. Even for people of God like ourselves, hungry armies can become... indescriminat."
[2026/09/08 15:40] Sapphire: An old lady in a new shawl comes up behind Sarah. "And who is you to be standing behind corners, lurking and peeping at us?"
[2026/09/08 15:40] Sonja Bikergrrl: Olivar: "Oui, mon ami. Politeness is a fading tradition. Fortunately we are few."
[2026/09/08 15:43] Mecha: Sarah turns."Oh, apologies. I am Sarah. I am not trying to lurk or peep. I... I don't seem to sit well with some people so I felt it best to just stay off to the side... It makes shopping difficult..." She pauses."I hope I was not in your way."
[2026/09/08 15:46] Sapphire: The monk nods, "Have you business with these soldiers of.. Cato? Is it a business that should stay outside the fences then?" He has an inkling of what might be going on, but has to operate in generalities.
[2026/09/08 15:48] Sonja Bikergrrl: Olivar: "Oui, mon ami. Wizard affairs, best not discussed. Is the Sunday service still on? Seems I haven't spoken to our Father, and I have coins weighing in my purse."
[2026/09/08 15:48] Sapphire: The old lady in the new shawl chews her gums in thought at that response. "Well, I have washing to get done but a strange giant in town is just so distracting, you might imagine. Mightn't there be a reason you don't sit well with people, Sarah?" It's possible this women doesn't have enough distraction in her life and tends to seek it.
[2026/09/08 15:48] Sapphire: "The sunday service is never skipped as long as even one of us breaths to give it, kind sir."
[2026/09/08 15:49] Sonja Bikergrrl: Olivar: "I shall be front row center, Sunday." (sighs, hearing the commotion. Which part of "stay back" does this wizardette not get)
[2026/09/08 15:49] Mecha: Sarah sighs."It's my size and the life path I have chosen to take miss." Sarah says.before thinking."Actually can you point me to a good place for food. Someone my size gets hungry."
[2026/09/08 15:53] Sapphire: "Glad to hear it, Olivar," he answers. When dealing with the church the distiction between a donation and a trade can get fuzzy, of course, but this can be as much an extention of credit as it is a demand
[2026/09/08 15:53] Sapphire: The old lady answers, "Probably the monks, goodness knows they have enough for themselves to eat. If anyone can afford to share its them."
[2026/09/08 15:53] Sonja Bikergrrl: Olivar (pats monk on shoulder and hurries back to Sarah, cursing under his breath) "Merde alors!"
[2026/09/08 15:55] Mecha: Sarah: Oh..." She looks down at the ground."That's all right no need to bother them." As she sees Olivar, and sighs.
[2026/09/08 15:55] Sonja Bikergrrl: Olivar: "It seems there are no unexpected guests at the party."
[2026/09/08 15:58] Mecha: Sarah nods and motions to the old lady."That, is good to know."
[2026/09/08 15:59] Sapphire: "Bah, bother the monks all you like. Anyone working that hard to appear good is always up to something nasty," the old lady insists, eyes flicking to Olivar and turning away on his approach, humming tunelessly as if she wasn't just insulting the owners of the land she lives on.
[2026/09/08 15:59] Sonja Bikergrrl: Olivar: "It is a good day, is it not, madame? You must see many coming and going. Have you seen any new faces in town lately?"
[2026/09/08 15:59] Sonja Bikergrrl: ...rood.
[2026/09/08 16:01] Sapphire: She slows down and turns to look at the question. "Plenty of new faces. One was a wanderer in monks clothes trying to share heresies before he was chased off. You looking for him?"
[2026/09/08 16:01] Mecha: Sarah."All right. let's go get some pigs. though you have to think since the pigs were Syras plan i still think he would expect it."
[2026/09/08 16:02] Mecha: *Okay, put Sarahs comment on hold as this one responded before the DM
[2026/09/08 16:02] Sonja Bikergrrl: Olivar: "Maybe. What heresies was he sharing?"
[2026/09/08 16:04] Sapphire: "I know better than to listen too close to heresy. Something about men with the souls of birds and birds with the souls of women. Nothing any god-fearing folk should listen to."
[2026/09/08 16:05] Sapphire: Presumably the Seneshal was the one gathering pigs, with the two other men at arms backing him up for that. Could be worth checking on him, if he was successful that'd be a lot of ropes to hold onto.
[2026/09/08 16:05] Sonja Bikergrrl: Olivar: "Oui, madame, that sounds like insanity. No god-fearing person would listen to that. What other heresies did you know better than to listen to?"
[2026/09/08 16:07] Sapphire: "Wouldn't know, they fell right out of my ears into the mouth of a passing rat, sure to have given it terrible indigestion."
[2026/09/08 16:07] Sonja Bikergrrl: Olivar: "Let us hope the rat doesn't then vomit on your floor, madame. Oui revouir!"
[2026/09/08 16:08] Mecha: once the old lady leaves... Sarah."All right. let's go get some pigs. though you have to think since the pigs were Syras plan i still think he would expect it."
[2026/09/08 16:08] Sonja Bikergrrl: Olivar: "Oui. We have troubles enough."
[2026/09/08 16:10] Sapphire: Pigs your main goal and deciding against distractions then?
[2026/09/08 16:13] Mecha: Yeah.. or amuch avoidance as possible. Sarah is trying to think of possible ways to end this war as cleanly as possible.
[2026/09/08 16:15] Mecha: or as much avoidance that is
[2026/09/08 16:16] Sapphire: One or two surprise strikes to take them off the board instead of turtling up for a month?
[2026/09/08 16:17] Mecha: Well we don't have a month if I'm correct so yeah
[2026/09/08 16:20] Sapphire: it'll be close. It's conceivable to turtle up, but if you let your enemy prepare rituals at you uninterrupted for a month, that's a bad time
[2026/09/08 16:21] Sapphire: like that mountaintop casting circle that Pythagora was preparing, for instance
[2026/09/08 16:21] Mecha: yeah true. so plotting out some of those as well.
[2026/09/08 16:21] Sonja Bikergrrl: that wasn't some tryst with a mercenary? :-O
[2026/09/08 16:22] Sapphire: :D
[2026/09/08 16:22] Mecha: ... not sure Sarah trysts
[2026/09/08 16:23] Sonja Bikergrrl: you weren't the one hidden behind a rock with some guy
[2026/09/08 16:24] Mecha: /me raises an eyebrow?
[2026/09/08 16:24] Sonja Bikergrrl: what?
[2026/09/08 16:24] Sonja Bikergrrl: it's very late
[2026/09/08 16:24] Sonja Bikergrrl: I do have a question before we go
[2026/09/08 16:25] Sapphire: ah yes, we're kinda past time now
[2026/09/08 16:25] Sapphire: your question?
[2026/09/08 16:25] Sonja Bikergrrl: What does this on Syras' sheet mean? "Greater Immunity (Fire)"
[2026/09/08 16:26] Sapphire: She takes no harm or damage from fire
[2026/09/08 16:27] Sapphire: can hold a candle in her hand, no damage
[2026/09/08 16:27] Sapphire: can walk through a bonfire, no damage
[2026/09/08 16:27] Sonja Bikergrrl: so, if a building was on fire, no damage
[2026/09/08 16:27] Sapphire: can get hit by someone elses Pilum of Fire, no damage
[2026/09/08 16:27] Sonja Bikergrrl: a bonfire is a pretty big fire... room sized?
[2026/09/08 16:27] Sapphire: can get hit by someones Ball of Abysmal Flame, or Arc of Firey Ribbons, no damage
[2026/09/08 16:28] Sonja Bikergrrl: There's a distinction between someone elses Pilum of Fire and her own Pilum of Fire?
[2026/09/08 16:28] Sapphire: "Greater" is because she's immune to a "relatively common" source of damage
[2026/09/08 16:28] Sapphire: Immunity to Oak would be a lesser, or more commonly on that front would be like, specific diseases
[2026/09/08 16:28] Sonja Bikergrrl: what's oak?
[2026/09/08 16:28] Sapphire: she is also immune to her own Pilums of fire, yes
[2026/09/08 16:28] Sapphire: Oak like the tree
[2026/09/08 16:29] Sapphire: compared to a "all plants" immunity would be also a Greater
[2026/09/08 16:29] Sapphire: we -have- previously decided that Syras immunity to fire protects her *self* but not her *clothes*
[2026/09/08 16:30] Sonja Bikergrrl: right
[2026/09/08 16:30] Sapphire: ....if she were to make a Talismen that was clothes, the Talismen counts as her and would have the immunity as well
[2026/09/08 16:30] Sonja Bikergrrl: just trying to get my head round this. So... immune to fire, and, effects like heat, smoke, etc? But not from eg., tavern burns down and collapses on her
[2026/09/08 16:31] Sapphire: the tavern falling on her is not fire damage, no
[2026/09/08 16:31] Mecha: well it would be the crushing weight of the tavern
[2026/09/08 16:31] Sapphire: she is probably smoke resistant but not smoke proof
[2026/09/08 16:31] Sonja Bikergrrl: yeah, I remember asking about a crown of fire. Seems like the sort of thing to do.
[2026/09/08 16:31] Sonja Bikergrrl: So, fire outside, where there's plenty of air
[2026/09/08 16:32] Sapphire: the smoke tends to float upwards and not collect, sure
[2026/09/08 16:32] Sonja Bikergrrl: I think I got it.
[2026/09/08 16:33] Sapphire: before you decide on a talismen you probably want to review the shape and Material bonuses to decide if a crowns bonuses or the various things you might embroider into a dress the color of flames would be better for you
[2026/09/08 16:33] Sonja Bikergrrl: Could one maybe whittle a wand into a talisman, that seems like a handy thing to do
[2026/09/08 16:34] Sapphire: the bonus from Wand/Staff includes options like "+4 to affect things at a distance"
[2026/09/08 16:34] Sapphire: so Wands and Staves are both very popular talismens
[2026/09/08 16:35] Sonja Bikergrrl: right... so... you could whittle a wand a little, make a hair stick
[2026/09/08 16:35] Sapphire: *nods*
[2026/09/08 16:36] Sonja Bikergrrl: cool
[2026/09/08 16:36] Sapphire: a caution: you can have ONE talismen (at a time)
[2026/09/08 16:36] Sonja Bikergrrl: right. Only need one.
[2026/09/08 16:37] Sapphire: you probably want to make a few lesser items and get comfortable with the mechanics for it before you embark on your talismen
[2026/09/08 16:37] Sonja Bikergrrl: I'll practice next time.
[2026/09/08 16:38] Sapphire: /me shares hugs
[2026/09/08 16:38] Sapphire: and, i suppose
[2026/09/08 16:38] Sapphire: you could always just enchant a dress or two with wards against fire
[2026/09/08 16:38] Sonja Bikergrrl: if I don't wanna go butt nekid, yes
[2026/09/08 16:40] Mecha: though with Syra there is a possibility of Nudity...
[2026/09/08 16:40] Sonja Bikergrrl: Mmhmm :-)
[2026/09/08 16:41] Sonja Bikergrrl: I need to run along
[2026/09/08 16:41] Mecha: /me hugglesmooches both of you
[2026/09/08 16:41] Sapphire: also that project will need a whole lab season
[2026/09/08 16:42] Sapphire: so there's time to get some nekkid time in
[2026/09/08 16:42] Sapphire: /me huggle smooches
[2026/09/08 16:42] Sonja Bikergrrl: to whittle a stick?
[2026/09/08 16:42] Sapphire: to *enchant* the stick with phenominal hermetic power
[2026/09/08 16:42] Sonja Bikergrrl: right... but... the whittling is entirely possible
[2026/09/08 16:42] Sapphire: the whittling is included, though for a sufficiently fancy stick you might outsource it
[2026/09/08 16:43] Sapphire: ....have you any skill in whittling, carpentry, or woodworking?
[2026/09/08 16:43] Sonja Bikergrrl: whittling a wand to a hair pin might take some doing admittedly, but, we can come to that one.
[2026/09/08 16:43] Sonja Bikergrrl: does Guile count?
[2026/09/08 16:45] Sapphire: that would be decent at stealing one of Pyra's hairpins, sure
[2026/09/08 16:45] Sonja Bikergrrl: /me ponders just getting Sonja y Ddraig Goch Fach to burn the end of a stick
[2026/09/08 16:45] Sonja Bikergrrl: okay, I should call it a night, for real
[2026/09/08 16:46] Sapphire: hmmm, a core of Firehawk Feathers would be good for it
[2026/09/08 16:46] Sonja Bikergrrl: see you both tomorrow or day after or something
[2026/09/08 16:48] Sapphire: thank you two for playing ♥
[2026/09/08 16:48] Sonja Bikergrrl: :-D
