"Now then, this will be a tournament of Certamen, that great Wizards Duel which has allowed us to resolve so many arguments without actually killing each other. [2025/11/24 14:39] Sapphire: "I trust your masters have taught you enough of the art to at least get by," he continues, drawing nods and no small number of smirks from the assembled. Pythagora returns the look with a vicious wink of confidence.
[2025/11/24 14:39] Sapphire: Garus continues "But to clarify todays rules. For each match, the two combatants will agree on a Form, and on a Technique. For the first round, the younger will decide the Form, and then the older will decide the Technique. This swaps in the following round, best of three if both of you are still standing by that point. You will have the option to veto the others first choice of art, but MUST abide by their second one. As well, if you veto in the first round, you cannot veto in the second round, to allow each their favorite art as needed."

One art for Attack, the other for Defence. Each tests their skills against the other until one side yields, by announcing that they yeild, or by pressing their palm to the floor. Or, if you manage to pass out from exaustion, that is also defeat. Surely no one will be so gauche as to force their opponent to knock them out, yes?" he chuckles, as do many of the elders who have been in exactly that position before.
